The 29,000 SF Conway Police Headquarters project by Police Facility Design Group consolidates all operations into an urban two-story facility. Planning accommodates needs twenty years into the future. In addition, unfinished space was created in part of the second floor area to provide additional growth well beyond the planning period. With a desire to remain in the downtown urban core, the choice of locations was limited. The property supporting the existing facility was deemed far more valuable than the structure itself. After a detailed need study, it was determined that acquiring the adjacent properties when combined with the existing police building site would provide the required acreage. Respecting the urban context and the pedestrian friendly, mid-western feel of the downtown, the building is against the streets. A two-story lobby space brings drama to the structure and reinforces a circular corner entry plaza.
The project was completed in 2009 utilizing the construction management delivery method with Nabholz Construction.
